Then there is another benefit — perhaps not recognized as a part of this rug lure — but one which you and your family will soon appreciate. Your sense of humor begins to quicken.

It usually happens through a wider association with other pupils in class. During class day you forget your own cares and responsibilities in the fascination of learning how to use color. Then you begin to "tune in" on the conversation around you — and strange to say, it seldom includes gossip. It is most often experiences with hooked rugs in general, and obtaining material in particular.

Often — probably because ruggers are so happy while hooking, infectious laughter spreads throughout the class. You'll find yourself thinking: "Why I haven't laughed like that for a long time!" And you'll find yourself searching for some funny things which may have happened to you too, to share with others — like this one which comes from California.

A group of three eager ruggers were in a rag merchant's shop in search of their booty. Boxes and barrels of old clothing filled the shop. They bent and stretched into the barrels for coats or dresses of unusual mixtures and shades, often coming up with one, and sometimes tearing and sharing it with the others. On top of one barrel was a beautiful tweed coat of unusual pattern and tone.

They all spotted it at once! "Oh, I'd like a little bit of that"— and so with a good strong pull the sleeves were torn from it and the coat was shared among them, just as a man came dashing into the room with a frantic look upon his face, saying: "Did you ladies see my light coat I laid down here?"
