Rug exhibitions
Here they have since become an anticipated pleasure to thousands of ruggers each May. Allen Eaton, in his book entitled "Handicrafts of New England," says: "These exhibitions are attended by persons from all parts of New England and from many other states.
The various processes of dyeing and hooking are demonstrated. Prepared materials with instructions as to how they may be used with some of the patterns, are available at reasonable cost.
There is a general interchange of ideas and experiences among hookers and teachers. This is probably the most important annual gathering of rug makers in our country.
With its exhibitions, demonstrations, and general information, it is the starting place for many workers in this popular folk art."
