Rug hooking and design
During this period I had to also personally produce the patterns on burlap, and also keep my books of records. But since I was distributing all my designs at that time through only one teacher (Mrs. Caroline C. Saunders) of this craft, bookkeeping was quite simple.
But as her classes grew, so did the demand for the patterns. I needed help! My first appeal was to my son, of high-school age, who helped me to reproduce the patterns on burlap.
But he, too, had a hobby. He had an orchestra, (oh, ours was a busy life!), so soon some of his school friends were pressed into service. But football and basketball and other sports demanded their time.
Finally sister May came to my rescue, and for a long time turned out all the patterns.
