Rug hooking hobby

Hooking is so satisfying! As one woman said: "Hooking is much more constructive and worthwhile than spending so much time playing cards. Instead of spreading questionable gossip about neighbors, our conversation deals with making a leaf 'turn over' or a petal 'curl'."

It is a wholesome craft which appeals to all the family. It is not unusual to have several members of the family hooking at the same time. But it is not always advisable to hook on the same rug.

There is a personal pride of workmanship in the experienced rugger that conflicts with the newly interested rugger. One rugger may perfect her technique quicker than another.

A wife was indulgent with her husband's curiosity to try hooking on her rug. Very soon, however, his work was finer than hers and he said: "You get yourself another rug because I hook finer than you do and I don't want you to spoil my rug!"
