Rugs in my life

Those were busy days, and burning the candle at both ends made a pretty light, but brought about an enforced rest for one summer. My mind seethed with the stories which I had gathered about the designs I had copied or collected. It seemed a pity not to record them and pass them on to others. Thus my book "The Dreams Beneath Design""" was born, and kept my mind and fingers busy while I rested.

1938 was a year in which things began to happen. My book was published. My son was married, and naturally became involved in making a new way of life for himself.

Competent pupils of the first teacher were now reaching out toward passing their ability on to others. They wanted to become teachers in their own right.

They came to my home to choose and discuss their patterns. So my bedroom was sacrificed for a Studio. My father-in-law, who had retired, was now glad to assist May in reproducing the patterns, to fill his idle time.

May began to help the teachers in the Studio with their choice of patterns.
