Woolen mills were most generous in sending us huge quantities for this purpose, the Bell Mfg. Co. of Worcester, Mass, being among the most frequent and generous of donors.
The "shelf" space problem followed me here. Each craft or skill taught in the Hospital was allotted the smallest margin of space absolutely necessary for its supplies.
So one of my greatest problems was that of securing adequate storage for materials donated. But the authorities were understanding and helpful, and our program was
very successful.
Of course my designing was laid aside for the duration of the war. Every possible moment was devoted to enlarging more than 100 insignia for the boys or developing their own ideas into patterns.
The Red Cross was instrumental in supplying us with burlap.
